With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find strategies to help our youth and their families. Raising funds for our annual college scholarships is something that we take very seriously. Every donation allows our conference to continue providing scholarship opportunities and furthering our commitment to this cause. Emilia Schneiderman

2023 SENATOR JOHN J.MARCHI
MEMORIAL ATHLETIC
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

Emilia Schneiderman attended Herricks High School where she was a part of the cheerleading and softball programs, and a five year varsity athlete on the girls basketball team. She was a notable recipient of the AP Scholar with Honors Award, and recipient of the President’s Service Award. Emilia is a member of the National Honor Society (NHS) and president of her high school's Italian Club. She will be attending Stony Brook University, where she plans to major in Civil Engineering, and dual minor in Environmental and Mechanical Engineering.

Kailey Simons

SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

Kailey attended Herricks High School, where she was co-captain of the varsity swim team and a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. She is an AP Scholar, National Merit Commended Scholar, and a member of Tri-M Honor Society. She is also a two-time All-State Violinist, and participates in the Children’s Orchestra Society. Kailey is the CEO of BeKind Furniture, an eco-friendly business that sells furniture and home decor made from used wood pallets. She has worked with a Stanford graduate mentor to create an artificial intelligence (AI) model that detects skin cancer in patient scans. Kailey will be attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology, majoring in computer science, and will be a member of the varsity swimming and diving team.

Jack DeRose

2023 ASSEMBLYMAN JAMES D.CONTE
MEMORIAL ACADEMIC
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

Jack attended Olean Central School. He is a proud, fourth-generation Italian-American, and has earned High Honor Roll throughout high school and the Scholar Athlete Award. He played varsity basketball team and ran varsity cross  country. Jack has been a member of Unified Sports for four years as a team player, a coach and a referee. The program’s goal is to promote the social inclusion of students with and without disabilities through sports. He has volunteered extensively- at Saint John’s Church yearly Italian Festival;  Coaches vs. Cancer; and Golf to Fight Cancer; the Olean Warming House soup kitchen; and Salvation Army. He has been a member of the Student Activity Council, the Principal’s Advisory Board, participated in Model United Nations where he earned first place, is a member of NHS. He will be attending St. Bonaventure University to major in business and finance, and will play on the Division 1 Basketball team.

Caden DellaPenta

MEMORIAL ACADEMIC
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT

Caden DellaPenta attended Vestal High School, where he was class president; president of his school’s curricular honors choir, Vestal Voices; and fan section leader for his school’s Varsity Club, making him the first openly gay student in this position at his school. He is a NHS member, in Interact Club, Diversity Club, tutors English, and acts as a student paraprofessional at Clayton Avenue Elementary. Caden is often volunteering- he has ushered at the Broome County Forum, cleaned cat habitats at Broome County Humane Society, ran bingo games at Willow Point Nursing Home, organized a bottle drive for the Binghamton Danielle House, helped with Trunk or Treat, and helped with games at African Road Elementary’s Field Days event. Caden was a Seal of Biliteracy Recipient for Spanish, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Finalist, and Broome County Music Educators Association soloist. He will be attending Lehigh University to study English.
